Additions to the gardens

Since the summer, we’ve been busy in the grounds creating extra points of interest for ourselves, our holiday let guests, and our visitors.

We decided to add a water feature, in the form of a traditional Italian-style fountain, where the main paths cross. It creates a focal point as you look along the pergola or through the arch by the sundial, and adds the gentle sound of running water if you’re strolling along the paths or relaxing on the benches in the orchard.

Then, to create additional interest in the main garden, we added a set of ‘four seasons’ aged statues of children, around the rose crown. They complement that area and already look as if they’ve been there for ever!

The most extensive addition has been the creation of a raised bed garden on what was previously part of our large car parking space between the house and the cottages. with trellis screens, a bench, a gravelled path, several pots, and new planting in the beds, this area has a character of its own and we’re looking forward to seeing this garden area in full bloom next year.

We hope our new developments will also be appreciated by our visitors when we open the grounds to the public again next year, under the Scotland’s Gardens Scheme - on Sunday 2 August 2026, 1-5pm.

Do put the date in your diary, and we’ll post reminders nearer the time.
